112km further north from Tamworth is Armidale (Population 38,100 and Elevation 980m like Katoomba) which is known as "The Cathedral City" since it full of large grand old Cathedral Churches of all faiths dating back to the 1850s. This is because the first settlers here were very religious. It is also ahead in Tertiary Education, having the largest TAFE in NSW and The University of New England. Only 45km from Armidale is the breath-taking Wollomombi Gorge and Waterfall at 200m drop making it the 2nd tallest in Australia...
